Skills Olympic
New methods and strategies have been tried all over the world to upgrade various vocational skills . On such form is an international vocational training organization know as World Skills. Olympic is not only for sport ! Skills Olympic is also arising as new global youth event shared the idea of Olympics for sports and adopted it into an Olympic for skills competition. The history took us back to 1950 where Spain and Portugal together organized the first youth Olympic .As early as 1953,young people from Germany ,the UK, France ,Morocco and Switzerland took part. Currently, the event organizes every two years among members by International Vocational Training Organization named World Skills. As it is define: It is showcasing the value of skills and raising the recognition of skilled professionals worldwide. Skills are the foundation of modern life. Everything, from the houses we live in to the societies we create, is the result of skills. They are the driving force behind successful careers and companies, thriving industries, and economies. Skills keep the world working.
Competitions are effective particularly in the context of providing positive career role models for school –aged youngsters. They provide a unique means of comparison of world- class competence in the industrial building and service rendering global economy. It is the largest skills championship and job careers event in the world. It is not simply a Competition; it is a moving and mobilizing at the global center for skills excellence and development with ongoing process nationally, regionally, and globally.
Currently there are about 55 types of vocational skills for the world skills competition such as: stone masonry ,bricklaying ,wall &floor tiling, sanitary installation , carpentry ,fashion technology ,information network ,IT application, web design ,bakery ,cooking ,beauty therapy ,health and social care, hairdressing ,furniture making ,automobile repair, joinery floristry and alike. The Competitors selected and represent their countries for skills competitions that are held in World Skills member countries and regions .
The Youth Skills Championship create awareness and promote vocational skills in bring together a large number of participants in diversified fields which in fact sharing idea and experience. In this regard, it emphasize the need of trained manpower in the market that witness the improvement of the quality of skills and services. It provide knowledge and skill in technical and vocational fields which are means for employment &self employment. This in return contribute to meet national work force in industry, business, agriculture and alike.
