I do believe that vocational training is imperative to initiating economic growth and providing employment opportunities. Particularly in country where there is deficiency in skilled workforce and unemployment is one of the challenges facing the economy and society. Thus, developing a competent workforce to support inclusive growth through vocational training plays a crucial role. In many developing countries youth unemployment is increasing at an alarming rate due to several intertwined factors. One of these factors is the lack of competence by the youth that industries demand. Too often young people complete their education and training but do not possess employable skills required by employers. They may also find it difficult to establish their own enterprises and run businesses successfully. As long as vocational training based on the demand of the industry providing entrepreneurship training could increase the chance of developing their own enterprise by the youth .The role of government and non-government organizations in the provision of labour market oriented vocational training is of paramount importance. In this regard, the establishment and functioning of Ethioskills with the mission of inspiring and supporting youth skills development for combating unemployment is highly commendable. Ethioskills’s focus on self - employment and entrepreneurship is its unique approach to address the challenge of youth unemployment. It should work very closely with other private and government organizations and stakeholders to achieve its goals.
